Years ago, my college roommate turned me onto the Terminator movies. Then I saw RoboCop 3 and thought that might be our future if we allowed government and industry too much control. Now, I thought Hollywood and www.coasttocoastam.com had driven my imagination out of control, but it turns out my fears are well-founded:

So if robots are the ones fighting future wars, won’t that mean that the winner will be the one with the most money, best technology and best military strategy? Rather than the one willing to endure the loss of human life the longest?
Either way, the Chinese will have us beat, if they want to.
Will it be worth their time to conquer a nation that might not be worth defending?
So, I’m up listening to Coast to Coast radio last night (in NYC, 770AM) and they were talking about how the space shuttle flight has been postponed indefinitely; then, they discussed how it may be due not to mechanical problems, but really due to all of the space junk in the flight path right now. The space junk was from two satellites colliding, but in reality, one of the satellites is a heavily-used satellite for financial services companies’ transactions and satellite collisions are rare, so perhaps it was “killed” by another satellite. Could someone be messing with us? Could NASA be afraid that our shuttle would be shot down? Then, you think that there were two nuclear subs colliding in the north Atlantic recently…could someone be messing with guidance technologies at the moment to stir up events? The Chinese (who may have gotten the technology through Loral back during the good’ol Clinton years)? Now, I’m starting to worry about 2012!
